Popularly known as AFMC, the armed forces medical college is a highly prestigious government college in Pune. The unique purpose of the institute is to create and nurture the prestigious Indian army medical corps. Care for the patients is an integral part of AFMC. The institution is responsible for providing the specialists and super specialists to the Armed Forces. AFMC is also involved in conducting research and the factors that would directly or indirectly influence the spirits and performance of the Armed Forces in war and peace. WHO designates AFMC for research, HIV-regional laboratory, and Centre for rickettsial diseases.
